Anna Lee is a stowaway on a futuristic airliner. The plane looks like it just flew off the cover of a vintage scifi magazine. It even has outdoor observation decks so you can go outside while the plane is in flight!

Subject: fun all through
A fun little film for, as one reviewer suggested, a rainy day or evening. Quip humor runs throughout the film, e.g. (aunt) "why did that strange man rub your hair?" (kid) "He didn't rub my hair...he was wiping his hand!" (Well, something like that). The mezzanine/exterior balcony scenes are utterly unbelievable, let alone crawling the exterior while in a nose dive - yet I couldn't look away. I downloaded the Divx, quality was generally fine, & the movie is a one-and-3/4-thumbs up watcher.
Subject: Must watch
This film is great fun. It is filled with wonderful British character actors and an exciting plot that gets rolling when set on the nonstop flight to New York. This is a flight on Madame Satan Airlines and one can only wish in this life of tedium and shoe inspections that we could board this non stopper to NY. If only.
Anna Lee by the way is an absolute charmer. John Loder is a solid guardsman type. Francis L Sullivan and Peter Bull are unctuous villains and everyone else lend great support to this underated film which I heartily recommend.
Subject: Slick and Stylish
This one's a keeper. Fast-moving, well-acted by a good cast. Anna Lee was a great actress in her younger days as well as her many years on General Hospital. Enjoyable vintage entertainment.
Subject: Fantastic Film
Wow! Had me from start to finish, love the old movies.
Subject: The Atlantic Air Mail liner
A man is murdered. The only witness Miss Carr, has returned to England. Discovering that she can exonerate an innocent man who is soon to be put to death in New York for the crime, and unable to convince Scotland Yard to intervene, she takes the Atlantic Air Mail liner to New York, riding as a stowaway in the hope she can arrive in time to save the day.
On the plane, we see a Blackmailer, a murderer, and a precocious child prodigy, all conniving against each other for their own purposes. At the center of it all is the Miss Carr. The only players who don’t seem to know what going on are the witness, Miss Carr, and Inspector Grant of Scotland Yard.
The strange aircraft, which looks like a luxury liner, is the biggest mystery of this movie. They could certainly not have the plot develop as it must on any ordinary aircraft. Rather than offer any quasi-plausible technical explanation for this colossal flying resort, the subject isn’t addressed. Once past that, the story is adequately engaging.
There were some cute exchanges and slightly funny bits, but the scene where Grant and Miss Carr step out of the airplane and talk privately is funny. It does set up the next scenes on the ‘balcony.’
The villain, having disabled the aircraft, forces Inspector Grant to climb out of the plane and into the cabin of the descending plane, saving the day. It could happen. Ask James Bond.
This was a good movie in 1937. It is no less good today, though one must ignore any law of physics.
Subject: Great Movie
I hope I am able to find more like it. Kept your attention thru out.
Subject: non-stop NY 1937
I really enjoyed this movie saw it to the finish. Nice for evening or on rainy days.
Subject: Pretty good.
This was neat. The futuristic plane they show in this we do not have today. Good mystery. Nice classic.
Subject: Wise cracking charcters
The dialogue is fairly humorous. Especially the young violin virtuoso.
The airplane is really a hoot. On the outside it is a normal sized airplane. On the inside it is as big as the Titanic.
Worth a look.

Subject: A Hitchcockian type Thriller
This unknown classic is a must see. It is fast paced in the Hitchcock style and well acted with a lot of droll sequences intertwined between. Anna Lee couldn't be prettier or more charming. The entire cast including the villain Francis Sullivan are great. The British attempt at American slang is slightly noticeable but otherwise the direction is top notch.
I just love that luxury aeroplane and wish that it was a reality to the present air traveller to rid him of the monotony of long travel.
Subject: WATCH IT!!!
I couldn't agree more with all of the previous reviewers that this one is a GEM and you should watch it and dig that crazy airplane!
Subject: Absolutely marvellous
Fast paced adventure crime story with wonderful actors including Anna Lee, John Loder, Frank Cellier (these 3 are in "The Man Who Changed His Mind" too, also a must-see!) and a wonderful Francis L. Sullivan.
Desmond Tester (he plays the annoying but likeable young violinist) can also be seen in Hitchcock´s "Sabotage" (maybe some will say, there het gets what he deserves, but I disagree)
This film categorized as Sci-Fi? The only reason for that can be the flying boat with outdoor observation decks (!) which never existed. I love it! But this is no Sci-Fi-movie. I don´t care about categorizations, just wanted to mention it.
Subject: Worth the time
Pretty good movie. It was worth the time.
Subject: odd little movie.
I like the idea of an observation deck. The concept also appears in a WC Fields movie, although I forget the title.
I suspect the screen writers knew that planes didn't have such things, but they were so used to writing dramas that took place on trains that they didn't want to give up the familiar devices. Maybe they also wanted to make plane travel conform to the audiences knowledge of trains.
OK, now I've read a good review by you.
That plane WAS pretty spiffy, eh?

Subject: Golden Oldies
You folks are stingy. This was a very enjoyable movie, excellent acting, full of suspence. Plot was pretty good though the plane made it seem like a Si/Fi thriller. 1937 was five years before the conception of the " Spruce Goose " built by Howare Hughes. The Spruce Goose had eight engins and was 219 ft long and was built to carry 750 fully outfitted troops. But even in 1937 they should have realized you couldn't have out door observation decks - and individual state rooms. Really!!! Still, I liked it.
Subject: a fun movie
This film was so much fun. Great dialogue. Good acting. I loved the aeroplane!
Snappy and clever dialog as well as good acting made this comedy thriller a fun watch.
I downloaded the 691MB DivX file. Video and audio are OK.
